Facing the Data: Making Number Meaningful (ALL LEVELS) FULL

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity full

Rationale and Learning Objectives: By the end of this session participants will be able to:
1) describe multiple avenues with which to approach grade-wide/school-wide data collection and analysis
2) brainstorm creative approaches to creating helpful, visual representations of data
3) name ways to analyze collected data that move beyond traditional score values
4) describe paths that connect data to informed instruction and/or intervention

Explain how your session addresses overcoming barriers to continuous school improvement.: Despite the well-known importance of data, the creation and utilization of data walls and other representations are not often attempted with fidelity or follow through. Barriers include time, large student populations, and sometimes a general lack of confidence in the information. This session will show participants not only how to overcome logistical concerns, but also why they will want to.

How will the content of your session propel a school improvement team to move forward?: The information presented in this session will show participants an example of using the district's data sources in different ways to analyze and adjust Core instruction. It will also demonstrate ways to engage all staff stakeholders in the success of students.

How might your session align with the JCPS Instructional Model? (Plan/Implement/Reflect): The creation and maintenance of a data visual follows the same process as the instructional model. Starting with a plan for the visual, it is implemented and monitored multiple times, and adjusted as needed. Reflection is an integral part of analyzing data.
